Thar Electric, along with exciting announcements, is spearheaded by Mahindra.

Mahindra and Mahindra have unveiled a new Thar Electric, which is set to launch in South Africa, along with the Scorpio N Global Pickup concepts. The company has not provided many technical details but has indicated that production of the vehicle is expected to start soon.

Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group, has hinted that this is not just a concept and that they are committed to making it a reality. In a tweet, he mentioned that they are ready to make it happen and that the vehicle is expected to be in production by 2025 or 2026.

The Thar Electric is expected to come with a retro-style design, a prominent front grille, a redesigned front bumper, compact windshield, and square-off front wheel arches. It will likely offer excellent ground clearance suitable for off-road adventures.

Other features may include retro-style headlamps with LED daytime running lights, roof rails, chunky tires, off-road-ready wheels, LED tail-lamps, and a spare wheel mounted on the rear tailgate.

The Thar Electric will likely be powered by a 60 kWh or 80 kWh battery pack sourced from BYD. Electric motors will provide the power, and the production version is expected to be similar to the Thar's current off-road capabilities.

More technical details about the new Thar Electric are yet to be revealed, but Mahindra's entry into the electric SUV market is an exciting development, and the company seems determined to bring this electric version to production in the near future.
